U.S. Rep. Al Lawson to Host Virtual Military Academy Day
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Al Lawson (FL-05) will host a Virtual Military Academy Day on Monday, August 31 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Recruiters from the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Merchant Marines Academy will be on the virtual call to discuss the application and admissions process.
Rep. Lawson’s staff will also be on hand to answer questions about the nomination process.
“High school students should take this opportunity to discover the full potential of their future,” Rep. Lawson said. “Pursuing a military education is a remarkable way for students to advance their academic and professional careers while serving their country.”
The event is open to high school and middle school students, or anyone interested in learning more about the military academies. To gain admission to a military academy, a student must receive a nomination from his or her U.S. representative, U.S. senator, the U.S. vice president, U.S. president, as well as being accepted by the military academy.
