U.S. Rep. Al Lawson Hosts Military Academy Day in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FLA – U.S. Rep. Al Lawson (FL-05) will host a Military Academy Day on Friday, September 21 from 5:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. in Jacksonville. Recruiters and current cadets from the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Merchant Marines Academy, as well as the Marion Military Institute, will be in attendance to discuss the application and admissions process. Rep. Lawson’s staff will also be on hand to answer questions about the nomination process.
“This is an amazing opportunity for high school students to explore the options available to them as they move into their future,” Rep. Lawson said. “Pursuing a military education is a remarkable way for students to advance their academic and professional careers while honoring their country.”
The event is open to high school and middle school students, or anyone interested in learning more about the military academies. To gain admission to a military academy, a student must receive a nomination from his or her U.S. representative, U.S. senator, the U.S. vice president, U.S. president, as well as being accepted by the military academy.
