Statement on Jacksonville extending Human Rights Ordinance
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the Jacksonville City Council voted to amend the city’s human rights ordinances to protect gay and transgender people from discrimination. U.S. Rep. Al Lawson, FL-5, released the following statement:
"With this vote, Jacksonville is on the right side of history in standing up for what is right and extending the Human Rights Ordinance to include our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We must stand strong in protecting against discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender."
