Lake City Awarded Grant for Gateway Airport Rehabilitation

August 13, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Rep. Al Lawson (FL-05) helped to secure a new $6.9 million federal grant for Lake City, Fla.

“This grant will allow Lake City Gateway airport to grow, improve and provide essential transportation services to Lake City residents,” Rep. Lawson said. “Access to this new and improved airport will allow residents the opportunity to travel safely and comfortably. Airports are important to business, commerce, travel and more, and I am proud to help North Florida improve all of these areas through this rehabilitation grant.”

Lake City Gateway Airport last underwent a major development ten years ago in 2008. In 2003, the airport was given a grant to benefit aviation maintenance, trauma one services and pre-flight procedures. The current grant will continue to build on the progress made in the past, and ensure all equipment, technology and infrastructure is as up to date and safe as possible.

The Lake City Gateway Airport Rehabilitation Grant was also supported by U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (FL) and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (FL).
